Saying Good Bye

For those of you that have access or follow Roger's Blog - I felt like I should write the last entry... Here is the email I sent out to many friends and family.

Just thought I would send a quick message to a few people… Roger, my father, passed away early Monday morning (9/8). Although he had mesothelioma (diagnosed in June), it was actually complications with that and his heart that finally took him. I was down to see him on Thursday. We joked around and he was really feeling good. Friday was better yet, we went on a couple errands, had Chinese food and talked until late. Saturday AM he got up and really felt great and then he just sat down and apparently had a stroke. He was taken to Hospice and later that next day he passed, very quietly.

We are not planning any services or memorials – He never understood a reason for them.

I am going to miss my flying buddy.

Kevin

Dad in the T-34 and Dad and I somewhere over northern AZ - just hav'in fun!

Carson 2007 Christmas Letter

Happy Holidays 2007
From Roger and Carolyn Carson

This year I at least kept some events on a calendar but never got to my goal of a daily journal. Started off 2007 by selling my purple airplane, along with the Bonanza airplane that Kevin and I partnered. We went to San Felipe Baja Mexico last Nov and then just got back again in Nov. 2007. Our daughter “Connie” and hubby Bob went with us both times. Connie and I spent sometime “claming” quite a ways out in the ocean on low tide. We continue to post photos and comments from time to time on our blog . (http://www.rogers1blog.blogspot.com ) We built on a 8x14 storage area to the house this year so that we could have a tool and workshop along with enough room to store an ATV. Sure sounds like people thinking about moving???? Also, on Dec 10 we are having new granite type kitchen tops installed.
My office in the house in beginning to look like a Chiropractic room, as we now have a new chair, which has 37 air bags, plus you name it such as with heat, rollers, MP3player etc. then a new Ceragem bed (check it out on the web). Both are used daily! Gaither Homecoming put on a performance in April which we enjoyed very much. Had several out of state visitors this year but they all ask not to be in the annual letter. Did a little USA sightseeing this year!!! Carolyn and I enjoyed the company of our great granddaughter, Lauren, on a 5000 miles driving trip. Took in Carolyn’s home town, Tolstoy, SD 100 yr celebration, daughter Bonnie’s remodel house in Lemmon S.D., the Black Hills, Yellowstone and much more. Don’t know who had the most fun Lauren or us!!
2007 Thanksgiving Dinner will be at Carolyn’s brother’s house in Phoenix with the Strouckel’s, Myrann’s and Howard’s. Carolyn and I did get to the Benny Hinn meetings in San Antonio last November but did not get to the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, however, do have tickets for Dec 4, 2007. Plans for 2007 Christmas are still up in the air, so will have to let you know next year the outcome.
Enjoyed the Dec. 2006 trip to Beijing, then cruise to Pusan, South Korea; Naga saki, Japan; Shanghai, China; Hong Kong, China; NHA TRANG, Vietnam; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Bangkok, Thailand; Kuantan, Malaysia then to Singapore.
We are just about done with international travel as mostly seen everything we want to see and the long flights sure do take a toll. The kids, Bonnie, Connie and Kevin are all doing well and doing their thing. (Whatever that is!) Carolyn did have a real bout with “sciatica”, which started during our summer trip but continued for a couple more months. Mostly over the back and leg pain but occasionally still has some issues. Carolyn’s sister Bonnie really did help relieve the pain, which also went a long way in the finalization as such. She drove up from Casa Grande, AZ many, many times! Don’t know what we would have done if she hadn’t come up as the pain was very bad.
February 20, 2008 we will have been married 50 years.!!! I had a couple of people say it wouldn’t last but can’t collect my bets as they are now gone.
Again this year as always, The Carson’s wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year! We do enjoy reading all the cards and letters received during the last years holiday season.

San Felipe Trip Nov 2007

Another year trip to San Felipe. This time took 6 days (one going/one coming)....Our daughter Connie/Bob Bowers from Denver made the trip again this year. Sure did go fast! As you can see from Photos Connie and I spent sometime way out with the tide digging for clams. We did get some and Connie fixed. Bob and I did take rides over the beach and subdivisions in the Trike shown in the pictures. It quite a thrill taking off of the beach!
